Dr Cheung On Tam was awarded a Doctor of Philosophy in 2006 (University of London), and is currently working at the Hong Kong Institute of Education as an Assistant Professor in the Department of Cultural and Creative Arts. Dr Tam’s publications include 'From Galleries to the Classroom: Museum and Art Education' (2004), 'Teaching and Learning of Art and Music: Innovations, Approaches and Cases' (2004), and 'Art Appreciation, Criticism, and Education' (2001). Dr Tam’s latest paper entitled ‘Patterns of Art Criticism of Senior High School Students in an Examination Context’ appeared in the Research in Arts Education (2011). From May to July 2009, he was Visiting Fellow at the Institute of Education, University of London.
Dr Tam’s current research entails investigating the teaching and learning of visual arts with reference to children with intellectual disabilities. Moreover, his teaching and research focuses on art appreciation and critique in the context of schools and museums. Dr Tam is also involved in several projects dealing with the development of multimedia technology in learning visual arts in schools and museums. Dr Tam is the co-editor of the Asia-Pacific Journal for Arts Education.
